Thank you from the PTA: An Update on the 2020-2021 School Year

Dear Ridgecrest PTA members,

I want to take the time to thank you for your membership and participation in our PTA in the 2019-2020 school year.

We experienced many disruptions and disappointments since March last year. I would like to send a heartfelt apology to every student who pledged their time reading in our annual Readathon without receiving medals and recognition like they normally would. We missed socializing with the parents of Ridgecrest at our Food Truck Rodeo and Auction. Now, we’re feeling the absence of the annual Back-to-School BBQ and Meet the Teacher night.

Due to the financial strain across our community, we did not collect pledges from the Readathon and we cancelled our in-person auction. Our projected financial loss for last year was LARGE. However, the Ridgecrest community came together in our online auction to raise $16,000 in the last month of the school year!

So, I’m here to say THANK YOU!

With your contributions over the last year, we were able to provide wonderful things for our Ridgecrest community. Some of the programs we funded included:

  • An online Science curriculum
  • New gear for our Safety Patrol
  • Paid-off food services debt for our graduating 5thand 6th graders
  • Yearbooks for many of our students
  • Field trips
  • Scholarships for after-school activities and Camp Caber
  • Teacher, Music, PE, and Library supplies
  • Parent Education

…and more!

Thank you for your donations during the last school year, whether you gave time or dollars. Ending the school year on a strong financial note and still being able to fund support through the end of the school year was critical in order to remain operational for this year. The donations provided to us during the auction will allow us to do less fundraising and provide more school and community support this year.

I hope you will all consider joining the PTA again for the 2020-2021 school year. We need a strong community of parents and staff to support our children during this challenging time, and the Ridgecrest PTA hopes to serve as a resource. Our membership site is now open for the new school year! You can join the PTA for the new school year on our website: https://ridgecrestpta.org/join/

An official Welcome Letter from the PTA will be distributed soon, as well as a calendar of events for the fall. I hope to see you all on our member roster soon!

Sincerely,

Brandi Allred, RC PTA President
